About the Program: As a part of Support Center’s 2022-2025 strategic plan, we are working to actively expand the capacity building talent pool in the area of strategic planning. Support Center is seeking capacity building practitioners looking to expand their work into strategic planning.

There is a significant demand for strategic planning across the nonprofit sector, and the discipline is constantly evolving. Support Centers of America published a seminal book on the topic; however, there have been significant contributions to the field along the way with different approaches and methodologies grounded in common values of participatory decision-making, equity, and inclusion.

Through this in person institute, Support Center aims to bring new voices and new perspectives to the field of strategic planning. This is not to say, however, that capacity builders with experience facilitating strategic planning need not apply. Support Center believes in diverse communities of practice where we can question, examine, and reimagine how we engage in the work. Nonetheless, the institute aims to equip capacity builders with resources, connections, and skills to apply to the work of strategic planning. This is why Support Center charted this path in our strategic plan and why the institute was developed and applications are now open.
